Strange Clouds

Two cousins share a secret. Gifts of superpowers. They plan to use them for material gain, until one day - life as they knew it - derailed and catapulted them on to an epic quest to enlighten the world.

Mad love to the nigerian bobsled team for making history...they have every reason to be 🔥!

Nigeria's female bobsleigh team has qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics, meaning the three athletes will become the first in any sport to represent their country in the competition.

Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omega made history after successfully completing five races held across North America in Utah, Whistler and Calgary.

In a world where Africans residing in Africa, as well as, in the diaspora are so far removed from their roots that they are offended by the title of "witch," this photo is everything!!! If only I had a dollar for every time that I have been called a witch. While I still maintain that I am not a witch, I Do Not consider it as a dirty word or evil title.

Witches, especially black witches, are empowered in my book series, Strange Clouds, A Melanated Fantasy Joint. There is a character named Red that is kind of like a witch, except she does not cast spells...instead every word she utters is a spell. So, like myself, she does not feel that the title is befitting - not because we are ashamed of the paths that we have accepted or the work that we do, but rather, because the term does not encompass all of our gifts/talents...not even close.

I especially love Red, because she dispels negative/programmed stereotypes of these often empathetic, compassionate, and selfless healers. ~ Authorvist, Cheketa Tinsley

(From Strange Clouds)
“So, basically you’re a witch?” Keenan asked. “I ain’t no witch, baby, and ain’t nothing basic about me,” Red snapped. She leaned in, “That little trick that you did by the river was cute, but I guaran-damn-tee you that there ain’t a queen or witch alive that can take a look at me.”

One could say, Cheketa graduated cum laude from the School of Hard Knocks. At a very young age, she was burdened with the responsibilities of raising her seven brothers and sisters after they were abandoned by their alcoholic mother. Cheketa became a mother, herself, at just fifteen years old. A short time later, she received a ten-year sentence for drug trafficking. She earned an early release through the prison’s FIST bootcamp (First Incarceration Shock Treatment) program at the Roederer Correctional Complex for Men after serving less than a year of incarceration. “Prison bootcamp was the hardest thing that I’d tried and actually completed. It was definitely a life changing experience for me. I earned a medal for graduating at the top of my platoon. After that, I knew without a doubt that there was nothing that I couldn’t do. I was an anomaly. I was unbreakable,” Cheketa often shares during guest speaking appearances.
